TUC seminar with Naomi Klein - This Changes Everything
United Kingdom (Western Europe)
TUC seminar with Naomi Klein - This Changes Everything Capitalism vs the Climate, Tuesday 7 October from 5 to 7pm, Congress House, London
To celebrate the World Day for Decent Work 2014, the TUC is hosting a seminar with Naomi Klein, the award-winning journalist and author, as she launches her new book, This Changes Everything: Capitalism vs the Climate. Her previous best-sellers include The Shock Doctrine and No Logo. In her new book, Naomi challenges the myths that cloud the climate debate, challenges the argument for dependence on fossil fuels and aims to show how our current economic model is waging and winning a war on earth. Change on the scale of America’s New Deal, the civil rights movement or the foundation of the NHS might be needed to win the economic transformation required. She argues that the carbon record doesn’t lie: every year, we release more carbon and methane (natural gas) into the atmosphere than the year before. In a crucial year leading to the UN’s climate talks in Paris, December 2015, climate change is rightly the theme of this year’s World Day for Decent Work. TUC is delighted to invite you to the debate with Naomi on this key issue of our times.
The seminar is by invitation only and places are limited so please reply as soon as possible: To reserve a place contact Emma Hendy firstname.lastname@example.org
